The Winter Exhibition at the Whitehouse Gallery in Kirkcudbright is a mixed group exhibition featuring the return of regular Gallery artists alongside several painters making their debut there. These include abstracted landscapes by David J Porter inspired by periods spent in Europe and by Victoria Wylie, who displays her love of colour, while Stephen Smith’s landscapes are primarily concerned with light and its impact. Also featured is Rosalind Walker’s vibrant mixed media work still lifes and landscapes, and Janet McCrorie’s figurative paintings depicting movement, particularly of Scottish dancers. As always there are beautiful new collections of craftwork, including mosaics, ceramics, glass, driftwood figures, jewellery, textiles, turned bowls and much more.
