The Majestic Line Restaurant is making winter more bearable for food lovers with a floating gourmet dining experience at the Holy Loch Marina in Argyll. The Glen Tarsan is one of the two beautifully-converted fishing vessels which form the Majestic Line fleet. Guests who have enjoyed the food on the Majestic Line cruises were the inspiration behind running a restaurant during the winter. Sales manager, Marie Thoms, explains: “Over the past few years, we’ve heard from cruise guests asking how they can enjoy our speciality cuisine all year round. As a family business, it seemed an ideal opportunity to open up one of our cruising vessels as a floating restaurant so that customers could enjoy the experience in the winter months too.”

Stephen Boswell, pictured, the chef who is the driving force behind running the Glen Tarsan as a restaurant, added: “We have such an amazing variety of fabulous produce in Argyll. As we cruise the area, we get to know all the innovative food and drink producers. It seemed obvious to keep serving the freshest and best of seasonal Argyll produce during the off season as a restaurant.” All meals are served boardroom style in the beautiful oak-lined deck saloon. Guests enjoy the freedom of strolling the decks to appreciate the tranquillity of the Holy Loch with its fringe of mountains. Staying overnight in ensuite cabins is an additional attraction, especially with the delicious breakfast on offer with Loch Fyne kippers proving the most popular item on the menu. “There’s nothing quite like bedding down in our cosy cabins after a special evening with friends and family, the water lapping at the porthole and the night sky awash with stars,” said Marie. The Majestic Line Restaurant at Holy Loch Marina is open Tuesday-Saturday for dinner and Sundays for lunch until 31 March, 2013. Tel 01369 707951.
