A selection of works by Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, brought together under the title A Life in Colour leads a summery showcase at Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh. Fellow Cornwall-based artist Tom Cross described her as ‘painting the warmth of the sun’, and that is clear in many of these works, inspired by landscapes in Lanzarote and Tuscany as well as Portmeor, the beach overlooked by her Cornish studio. Taken from five decades of her life, including her extraordinary late experimentations, the thirteen pieces show the versatility of her approach. They are joined in this show by works by John Brown, Jake Harvey, Kurt Jackson and Alex Knubley.
