To celebrate its centenary, Visual Arts Scotland (VAS) is holding its largest-ever exhibition, showcasing over 300 artworks by 242 contemporary artists, including ceramics, paintings, mixed media, photography and sculpture.

VAS began in 1924 as the Scottish Society of Women Artists, with the aim of empowering women after their contribution to their efforts in the Great War, by providing opportunities to create and exhibit applied arts. Today the organisation has a membership of over 1,000 artists across Scotland and beyond, with the sole purpose of promoting artists with an association with Scotland.

Other centenary activities include exhibitions at Tatha Gallery in Newport-on-Tay and the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club in Aberlady, participation at the Borders Art Fair and an exhibition and makers’ market at Dalkeith Palace, as well as a number of artist residency opportunities.
