The Royal Scottish National Orchestra continues to welcome the new year with its Viennese Gala concerts, with the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock the latest (14th Jan). Vienna is the last word in New Year romance, with Johann Strauss its most famous son. Good old-fashioned operetta romance is promised from RSNO favourites including tenor Jamie MacDougall and conductor David Niemann with Die Fledermaus, On the Beautiful Blue Danube and the Thunder and Lightning Polka on the bill for the evening.

The Orchestra will thereafter switch to Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with pianist Francesco Piemontesi (27th Jan and 28th Jan, Edinburgh and Glasgow).
