Aberdeen’s Gallery Heinzel is hosting a new exhibition by Victoria Wylie, who creates abstract landscape paintings in her home studio in Angus. A celebration of the natural world, the works explore the wilderness of Scotland’s land and sea, and  solitary moments surrounded by nature.

Having grown up close to the North Yorkshire Moors, Victoria has long harboured a fascination for horizons and vast stretches of openness, with her paintings responding to the shifting elements and rhythms of the landscape – particularly the visual tensions arising ‘when sky meets sea meets land’, with each painting lending a fragment of itself to the next.

Victoria says, ‘This new collection of paintings reflect on memories from the West Coast, specifically around Mellon Udrigle Beach. Weather watching, sitting in quietness and enjoying the therapeutic experience of sea swimming. Also included in this collection are reflections from closer to home – explorations from the foothills of the Cairngorms extending along the Angus coastline.’

The Gallery supports the Own Art finance scheme, which makes purchasing artworks more affordable through payment by instalments, and artworks are available for sale via the Gallery’s website; they can arrange national and international delivery.
