‘Unique and Engrossing’: Sound Stage Takes New Theatre Online

Sound Stage

18 Jan 2021 –

Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum Theatre‘s new immersive audio-digital venture, Sound Stage, has been announced. A collaboration with Pitlochry Festival Theatre and Naked Productions, the project promises listeners a unique and engrossing online theatre experience, featuring new plays from eight of the best writers in British theatre which the organisers hope to take onstage in due course: Roy Williams, John Byrne (premiering his first new play since 2008’s Nova Scotia), Timberlake Wertenbaker, Lynda Radley, Jaimini Jethwa, Frances Poet and Gary McNair. Dates and ticket information are available via the Lyceum’s website.

Also, the Theatre’s Lyceum Christmas Tales – ‘the most ambitious online Christmas show around this year’, according to The Scotsman, is available online until the end of January, and Karine Polwart’s Letters To The Lyceum podcast series, the final one of which was published over the festive period, taking the listener back from the Lyceum stage to former plague times, via the birds that visited her Midlothian garden during lockdown.
