An exhibition by The Fine Art Society this Summer is on show at both its London and Edinburgh galleries, bringing together pioneering 19th and 20th-century British artists who found themselves at the threshold of the modern period, and whose works came to define a moment. Motivated by the urge to explore new styles, they rejected the received wisdom of their day, to express the world around them differently.
