The open-air art space near Edinburgh Jupiter Artland is hosting works by two of Scotland’s most significant artists: Andy Goldsworthy and Ian Hamilton Finlay (1925 – 2006), in dialogue in a single space.

The two artists are considered foundational to the aims and development of Jupiter Artland, and its 2025 re-opening is marked by the unveiling of Clay Tree Wall by Goldsworthy – on show for the first time in twelve years in its Upper Steadings Gallery, alongside beautiful poetic works by Ian Hamilton Finlay, not usually on public display. Jupiter Artland’s Founder, Nicky Wilson, was inspired by a visit to Little Sparta, Finlay’s garden and artwork in the Pentland hills, and this encounter was the inspiration behind Jupiter Artland.

WORK BEGAT WORK: Ian Hamilton Finlay & Andy Goldsworthy coincides with Finlay’s centenary, (marked by exhibitions at National Galleries of Scotland’s Modern Two and Edinburgh’s Ingleby Gallery), and a celebration of Goldsworthy’s work at National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh later this year.
