Watch out for some of Scotland’s best food in the latest TV series fronted by Bake Off’s Paul Hollywood. In the first episode of Paul Hollywood’s Pies and Puds on BBC 1, Paul is joined by pastry chef Falko Burkert who has traditional German bakeries in Gullane and Edinburgh.
Falko shows Paul how to make the original version of the classic apple strudel. Hopetoun House, near South Queensferry is another of the venues for the show and Paul meets Hopetoun Farm Shop master butcher Derek Mackintosh to discuss the different types of meat available at the shop and cooking game meat. On air, Paul creates the Hopetoun Raised Game Pie, a mixture of rabbit, partridge and pheasant in a water crust pastry. Picture shows Paul with deputy shop manager Jennifer Phillips and Derek.
