Born on 23rd April 1775, J M W Turner became one of England’s best-loved painters, and regarded as a true pioneer in land and seascapes. His connections to Scotland are explored online in a collection of features, images and film by the National Galleries of Scotland, making for a fascinating insight into his work. Famously, every January the Galleries display Henry Vaughan’s 1900 bequest of a set of 38 radiant watercolours.
