There’s something stirring on Glasgow’s southside. That’ll be the cauldron that is gently simmering some fresh new ingredients at The Granary, the city’s distinctive wedge of a bar on Shawlands Cross. Karin and Des, the culinary double act in charge of the pub’s engine room of a kitchen, are planning a brand new menu, but some trusted regulars have been taking part in tasting trials ahead of the game. ArtMag had a sneak preview too. Gamiest of all have been prototypes for a wild boar and chorizo burger. The spicy Spanish flavoured pork sausage accompaniment has been given the thumbs up. While there aren’t actually any boar running wild in Pollokshaws Road, the produce is sourced with food miles in mind. What’s decidedly local is the contemporary twist on a favourite – namely a haggis fritter.
