Jackie Stevenson’s first solo exhibition at Frames Gallery in Perth, showcases her mixed media works, interpreting the effects of light and weather on northern landscapes, mainly in the more remote areas of Northumberland, Cumbria and Scotland – an evocation of a particular place and atmosphere, rather than being purely representational.
Stevenson builds up in layers using collage and a combination of watercolour, acrylic paint, inks and oil pastels. Creating texture and atmosphere is central to her work, resulting in some aspects of the paintings becoming quite abstracted, although still retaining the original elements of the landscape.
She has exhibited widely in galleries, art fairs and exhibitions across the UK, including the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour in London, Paisley Art Institute and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour.
