The bar and bistro at Channings Hotel in Edinburgh

Time to explore

The bar and bistro at Channings Hotel in EdinburghThe bar and bistro at Channings Hotel in Edinburgh had one of the coolest launches in town late last month. It had to be cool when its named after Polar explorer, Ernest Shackleton, who once lived in the building. Among the themed canapés and cocktails at the official opening of Shackleton’s was this South Pole mule – vodka, ginger beer and lime giving the kick.

Channings is one of Artmag’s favourite Edinburgh pied-à-terres with its 41 bedrooms just a short walk from the West End. Shackleton’s all-day menu which is served from noon until 9.45pm, has a good range of classics that will appeal to guests and nice touches like the sharing platters which are perfect with a drink or as a lighter snack.
