Paint, Pastel & Print at Flat Cat Gallery in Lauder is a mixed exhibition including naturalistic and abstract landscapes by John Fowler and Alan Richmond respectively, seascapes by Fiona Carvell, figurative work by Alison Diamond, textile art by Sue Jury, glasswork by Sue Thorne and treescapes by Bill Zima.
And the gallery’s name? The previous owners also sold a range of eastern rugs. A ‘flat cat’ is a type of Tibetan rug woven to resemble a tiger skin. Although the gallery no longer sells rugs, the name has stuck. Along with artwork by artists from the Borders and beyond, there is an eclectic range of ceramics, sculpture and jewellery.
The Gallery now operates the Own Art scheme, which makes owning artworks more affordable, through payment by instalments.
