Glasgow’s The Modern Institute has a new online and in-gallery exhibition of the work of New York-based Marc Hundley – In Another Country.
Hundley is known for the way he encapsulates moments of intimacy and solitude in lyrics lifted from songs, text found in books and poetry, along with found imagery, in hand-painted ‘posters’ and printed Xerox works, inscribed with the date and address of when and where the source was encountered.
The new works comprising his second solo exhibition at this gallery repeatedly cite one address – a notable reference to the days confined there during the recent period of isolation, as a result of the pandemic, and the space to view these ten works is carefully thought-through by the artist, creating an inviting atmosphere to pause and reflect.
