James Fullarton: A Modern Scottish Colourist at the Maclaurin Art Gallery in Ayr charts the artist’s life from his days at the Glasgow School of Art to the present. Considered a modern Scottish Colourist, Fullarton is one of his own favourite subjects and many of his self-portraits painted over the decades feature in this exhibition as well as gentle and emotional portraits of his wife and three children. Many of the works on view, which also include landscapes and seascapes, have been loaned to the Gallery by collectors of Fullarton’s work across the UK.
