The fourth annual Mackintosh Festival (formerly The Creative Mackintosh Festival) celebrates the genius of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. This year’s theme is social history and the programmes features walks, talks, tours, exhibitions, film, music and childrens’ activities. Highlights include the UK premiere of The Nature of Art Nouveau exhibition at The Lighthouse; Up Close with Mackintosh Sketches at the Mackintosh Church at Queen’s Cross (a rare opportunity to view little known drawings from CRM’s Italian study tour) and talks on the restoration of Glasgow School of Art’s Mackintosh Building. GSA also runs a thrice daily Mackintosh at the GSA Tour, which examines the architectural details of the Mackintosh Building and explores his journey from student to master designer. The Mackintosh Festival is organised by the Glasgow Mackintosh Group whose other members are Glasgow Museums, The Hunterian, the Willow Tea Rooms, House for an Art Lover, the Hill House and Glasgow Art Club.
