Painter Francis Boag‘s exhibition September Song at Fraser Gallery in St Andrews features travel scenes by one of Scotland’s most popular contemporary artists in his signature style.

After Lesley Franklin took ownership of the Gallery in May, she was keen to mount an exhibition by the artist, whose work she has collected for a long time, and visited him on the Ury Estate in Aberdeenshire; she was struck by the splendour of the landscape, Boag’s emotional response to it, his unique depictions of the North East of Scotland, with their colour and vibrancy, and portraits inspired by people he has met.
