Margaret Rebecca Dickinson – A Botanical Artist of the Border Counties at the Granary Gallery in Berwick-upon-Tweed features the Newcastle-born artist who lived in the nearby village of Norham for the last 50 years of her life. Dickinson, born 1821, painted Borders wildflowers and some cultivated flowers and travelled widely around Britain collecting and recording plants.

This was a time when botany was a popular pastime with women, but when few were professionally involved. As a result Dickinson received little recognition in her lifetime. This new exhibition includes original works on loan from the Natural History Society of Northumbria and the Royal Horticultural Society.
