Edinburgh’s &Gallery is mounting a new exhibition of work by Susan Laughton and Bronwen Sleigh RSA: Layered Perspectives showcases two artists whose practices explore the meeting points between architecture, landscape, and abstraction. Both artists investigate how the built environment shapes our perception of space, yet their approaches diverge in that Laughton produces quiet, reductive paintings and drawings while Sleigh explores through materially-rich printmaking, drawing, and sculpture.

Together, their works form a conversation about how we see, inhabit, and remember the spaces around us, with geometry and gesture, precision and improvisation converging to reveal that the built environment only a concerns buildings and space, but also has its language of memory, place, and imagination.
