The Glasgow Gallery is mounting an exhibition of work by John Lowrie Morrison OBE, aka Jolomo: The Colours of The Earth celebrates the heightened colours of the natural world, fulsomely reflected in his signature saturated colourings. As the artist puts it, ‘The miracle of Creation was designed for grass – plants – trees – bushes – flowers & weeds to grow. Most of that growth grows because there is fertile earth – soil for that growth – sustained by water and the sunlight. Another miracle of Creation is that the growth – whether flowers or weeds – grow to have fabulous high key colour! So the earth gives forth colour… great wonderful colours from the earth… which is what this exhibition is about.’
