The 18th edition of the Edinburgh Art Festival brings together over a hundred artists in 35 exhibitions throughout the city, complemented by an online programme and newly-commissioned artworks. The Festival covers the capital’s leading galleries, museums and artist-run spaces in a city-wide celebration of visual art, many of which are regularly featured on artmag.co.uk. It features leading international and UK artists alongside emerging talent, major exhibitions of historic figures in art, and a special programme of newly-commissioned artworks, making the most of the spectacular setting of the historic city.

Highlights of the Festival include new commissions, taking place across the city marking the 200th anniversary of the Union Canal, four early career visual artists based in Scotland taking part in Platform: 2022 – Saoirse Amira Anis, Emelia Kerr Beale, Lynsey MacKenzie, and Jonny Walker, retrospectives of work by Barbara Hepworth and Alan Davie, a rare Scottish showing of work by Ishiuchi Miyako, and new work by Tracey Emin, Daniel Silverline Condorelli, Cooking Sections and Sakiya.

Among the Festival’s leading exhibition venues are Edinburgh Printmakers, the Union Canal, the National Galleries of Scotland, the City Art Centre and Ingleby Gallery.
