The Aberfeldy Gallery has a solo show by Georgie Young, a graduate of Glasgow School of Art who paints Scottish landscapes, primarily in acrylic, using a bold palette with rich textures.
She says, ‘I aim to evoke a feeling and capture a sense of place, an atmosphere or an unexpected detail rather than reproduce a direct likeness. The original observation is processed and re-examined and the essence abstracted. The landscape is always the starting point and thereafter what is produced is my attempt to recreate not the place itself, but the memory of it.’
Also showing is a large mixed exhibition by artists from all over Scotland, including a large variety of landscape and wildlife art ranging from representational to impressionistic.
