Artisan& Gallery in Aberfeldy is hosting a new exhibition of the work of Victoria Wylie. Finding ‘solitary moments’ surrounded by nature, Victoria paints bold, atmospheric abstract landscapes and seascapes informed by horizon lines and influenced by growing up near the vast stretches of openness of the North Yorkshire moors. Her paintings respond to the changing elements and the rhythm of the landscape as she explores the visual tensions which arise when sky meets sea and land.
Victoria works mainly in acrylics, adding other media such as ink, pencils and oil pastels to create energy and variety, all the while experimenting with textures, opacity, patterns and colour by layering, scraping, distressing and repainting.
