The Abstract-scapes of Mary McDonald

The amazing scenery of the west of Scotland is an enduring source of inspiration for abstract landscape painter Mary McDonald.

Based in the west of Scotland, Mary McDonald paints from a starting point of exploring the structures of landscape, experimenting with perspective and simplifying her subject into a perceived assembly of elements, taking inspiration from the stunning landscapes in her part of the world; home is also her studio, and she enjoys a busy home-life with husband and two children. Having graduated at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, she worked as an interior designer before deciding in 2015 to focus on painting and family. Her website is updated regularly and has a small number of original paintings available to purchase, and she frequently updates her Instagram page @mlmmcdonald with new work.
