The Whitehouse Gallery in Kirkcudbright is set to show A Quiet Place – a collection of works by selected artists and makers offering their own interpretations on the theme of stillness and silence, inviting audiences into ‘a sanctuary of stillness and softness’, in an ever-noisier world.

The works on view aim to create an atmosphere of tranquility and introspection, with each piece whispering rather than shouting, and encouraging viewers to take it slow: soft watercolours and still seas evoke moments of solitude and reflection, in a range of landscapes, seascapes, still life, wildlife, abstract and figurative works by eminent practitioners such as Anne Skinner RSW, Corine Ko, Darren Woodhead MA(RCA) SWLA, Fee Dickson Reid, Garry Harper, Joyce Gunn Cairns MBE, Pascale Rentsch RSW, Peter Davis RSW, Ruth Clayton, Sharon Quigley and Stuart Gray.

The visual work is supplemented by 3-D works by Heather Armstrong, Helen Martino, Jack Durling, Lorna Fraser and Rowena Beaty.

Admission is free and open to the public, and the work will be online from 30th April. The Gallery supports the Own Art finance scheme, which makes purchasing artworks more affordable through payment by instalments.
