St Margaret’s performance, arts and heritage centre in Braemar is launching The Song of the Ice – a collaborative work bringing together new music, science, animation and images telling the story of the Antarctic Ice Sheet.
The launch event, on Earth Day 22nd April, is a 40-minute YouTube video event featuring Steve Garrett, including an introductory talk, live chat Q&A’s, and the work itself, which Garrett describes as ‘touching on geology, geophysics, glaciology, climate science, light, sound and music. I hope it tells the story of the Antarctic ice sheet in a different way, highlighting its long history, dynamic nature, beauty and role as witness to the changing state of our planet.‘
The music will be released through Bandcamp and the video will remain on YouTube.
