PRESENT TENSE at Glasgow School of Art is a new exhibition by artists and long-time collaborators SMITH/STEWART – that is, Stephanie Smith and Eddie Stewart, who work and live in Glasgow, and teach Fine Art at the School.

Exploring themes of interdependence and interpersonal relationships, they create sculptural installations, developed out of collaborative dialogue and material investigation, presenting the viewer with situations in which he or she becomes an active constituent. The installations are pared-back to bare essentials, illustrating shifts in and out of sync, coming together and moving apart.

Unusually, for this show, the materials used in the installations are also presented.
