Doubtfire Gallery, 1-3 South East Circus Place, Edinburgh
Running from October 7 – October 28
Private View October 6, from 5 – 7.30pm

In his second major solo exhibition at the Doubtfire Gallery, Simon Rivett returns to his childhood home to revisit the sites of his earliest works, painting landscape on the border between Cumbria, Northumberland and the North Pennines. The resulting collection builds on his earlier work, both in Iceland and the Hebrides, in exploring the relationship between people and the land and how it have been shaped by weather, agriculture and land management over thousands of years. Simon produces masterful work with an immense depth of feeling. “Moving away from direct representation, the visual rhythms in the landscapes I create are a nod to my inspirations and influences from music and the arts. Always reflecting the fun and sheer joy of the acts of observing, analysing and painting.”
