Glasgow’s The Alchemy Experiment is hosting Return, Remake, React – a group show by five Silversmithing and Jewellery artists-in-residence at the city’s School of Art.
Cara Lowe (Instagram @caralowestudio) makes playful, colourful jewellery from a renewable bioplastic sourced from natural plant sugars, via a 3D-printing process. After spending time in the north-east’s coastal landscape, Scott Smith (@scottsmith.design)’s detailed metal works are inspired by the ‘repetitive and meditative’ processes adopted by Scotland’s ancient craftspeople. Having studied in Birmingham, Wuhan and Edinburgh, Sheng Zhang (@shengzhang.metalwork) lectures at Staffordshire University – his modernistic, clean-lined work is pictured. Monica Findlay (@mo.fin) ‘s highly-textured work brings together storytelling and archaeology, and the signification of ancient and modern touchstones. Michelle Currie (@michelle.currie.artjeweller)’s work is the product of her fascination with astronomical patters and the properties of ferro-magnetic materials.
