Daniel Silver: Looking at Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh, showcases an artist who sculpts in the traditional sense, having worked with bronze, marble, concrete, wood and stone, but Daniel Silver’s current fascination is with clay. The invitation to make a solo exhibition for the Fruitmarket inspired him to make a series of small clay works, sculptural sketches inspired by the moves of a dancer, and he soon went on to make much larger pieces. The show, which will occupy all the spaces at the recently refurbished gallery, includes figures of different sizes which explore the act of looking, gazing at us as we gaze at them.
