Sheila Dalgleish‘s fascination with the structure and origins of the landscape has shaped her art: using photography as a springboard, she translates the forms she sees in pictures, into the fabrics and thread-work that are her signature medium. Through her extensive travel, and taking time during the Covid lockdown, she has been examining the texture and patterns of the elements of a landscape, and recreating in textiles an overall picture conveying the physical world, both in close-up detail and in its vastness. She says, ‘Textile art work has now become so much a part of my life that I am now unable to imagine life without it. It has allowed me to meet so many lovely people I would never have crossed paths with, and has opened many unexpected doors. It has encouraged my creative side to expand and grow beyond my dreams.’
