Opened in October last year, Edinburgh’s BirdsNest Gallery has announced two new exhibitions that consolidate the success of two popular displays from last year.
Photographic artist Colin Sutherland‘s first major show in a gallery space, Beautifully Astray (see Artmag’s post) was well-received and is to be followed-up with a display of a new series of beautiful and intriguing photomontages using two gallery spaces.
Also reported by Artmag, the Scenes to Admire! exhibition proved highly popular, prompting the Gallery to recast its exhibition of landscapes with newly-acquired paintings from artists such as John Houston OBE RSA, Mary Nicol Neill Armour LLD RSA RSW RGI, Nael Hanna, Hilda Goldwag, Madeline Rachel Wells RBA, James Morrison RSA RSW, Jurjen De Haan, and Donald Buyers. With the Gallery’s curatorial emphasis on the stories behind the pictures as well as their appearance, it’s hoped that More Scenes to Admire!! will prove additionally fascinating.
The Gallery kindly sent Artmag.co.uk some images of the exhibitions’ opening evening:
