Scottish stars shine

Award time again and good to see a couple of new Michelin stars for Scottish establishments. The Isle of Eriska and Three Chimneys on Skye join 12 other new stars in the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2015. Both the chefs awarded new Scottish Michelin stars put their faith in cooking with the finest local produce. Michael Smith at the Three Chimneys and Ross Stovold at Isle of Eriska have gathered fans for their menus and now the French guide book has joined the admirers. With two places (Inverlochy Castle and Glenapp Castle) dropping off the list, that makes a total of 16 restaurants across Scotland with Michelin stars.

Almost simultaneously, the AA Hospitality Awards were being announced. The Scottish titles went to Meldrum House Country Hotel, Aberdeen as Hotel of year; to Timberyard in Edinburgh as Restaurant of year; the Peat Inn in Fife picked up the Wine award and the Bridge Inn at Ratho was named Pub of year.
