Following its Call for entries by end of July, The Scottish Portrait Awards 2020, a major event in the Scottish visual art calendar, is set to proceed as a series of consecutive exhibitions in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Banff, opening in Edinburgh’s Scottish Arts Club on 3rd November and to run until 27th November. The prizewinners will be chosen based on hung exhibition. All exhibiting artists feature in the limited-edition 2020 SPA Catalogue, which can be ordered from the Awards’ website.
Established by the Scottish Arts Trust in 2016, artists and photographers, can compete for two Awards: the £5,000 Scottish Portrait Award in Fine Art open competition invites entries in any 2D or 3D medium, and the £3,000 Richard Coward Scottish Portrait Award in Photography is open to entries in black and white only. Both Awards offer a series of generous cash prizes for runners-up, and thirty pieces from each Award will be shown to the public.
