There is a double showcase at Flat Cat Gallery in Lauder: Edinburgh-based painter Kairen Bergius received formal training through Leith School of Art and the Open College of the Arts; her colourful mixed media works are full of energy, often featuring a journey into the space, going beyond depicting a scene to evoking an emotional reaction through colour, texture and form.
Textile artist Rosie Logan lives in France, where she runs a guest house. Her works are inspired by nature, whether satellite views of the earth, microscopic cells, new life or an underwater experience. She says, ‘Everyone sees something different. The concept is that you interact with them. They are multidirectional, so one day when your mood changes, walk past and turn it round, change the lighting and feel the difference.’
The Gallery operates the Own Art scheme, which makes owning artworks more affordable, through payment by instalments.
