Scottish Opera | Baby baroque as you’ve never seen it before.
Many harried parents have found themselves sitting through singalongs and children’s shows but how many have been prepared to plonk their bouncing cherubs in front of a fully-fledged OPERA?
Those brave people at Scottish Opera are about to find out. BambinO is a stimulating mini opera aimed at 6 to 18 month old children, complete with percussion, cello and tiny pianos, designed to enthral, stimulate and engage kids. The performers build a colourful, magical soundscape that they hope will enthuse the tots at an age when their minds are open to new sounds, images and experiences. The babes will be free to explore during the performance, and to interact with the singers, musicians and each other. Can you imagine how busy that room is going to be?
The lively show is a co-production with Manchester International Festival and Improbable. It’s written by Scottish Opera’s Composer in Residence Lliam Paterson and directed by Improbable’s Phelim McDermott. It makes its debut at Manchester International Festival in July, before travelling to Edinburgh as part of Festival Fringe, then to Glasgow for performances in Scottish Opera’s Production Studios.
