April proves to be a busy month for Scottish Ballet as the company stretches into film-making and visual media. Under the Skin, is a digital dance season released in stages throughout the month which demonstrates the versatility and artistry of contemporary dance. First video What Dreams We Have features principal dancer Sophie Martin shot in dream like movements against a stark grey concrete structure. Director David Eustice picks up fluid reflections while Sophie pulls some graceful florid shapes to a gentle piano soundtrack and some stunning images.
Watch out for Company Class Uncut (April 7), Haud Close Tae Me (April 12) which features a specially commissioned poem by Jackie Kay, and Creation of a Work in a Week where renowned choreographer James Cousins is challenged to put a dance together in 7 days (April 24).
There’s also a pop up gallery presented in conjunction with Glasgow School of Art at the Tramway (April 21 – May 5) Phew!
