Inverclyde’s Beacon Arts Centre is welcoming back visitors with a relaunched exhibition programme featuring new work by Rosalind Lawless, Beth Shapeero and Fraser Taylor.
For her exhibition Wall Objects II, Ros Lawless has taken an old slide photo taken by her father and a photo of a skip for a household clear-out, unknowingly sent upside down, by her sister. She says that images such as these reignited ideas of her family history in place and time, and, alongside the memories, examining architectural elements.
Glasgow-based Beth Shapeero and Fraser Taylor have worked together since 2018, and call their collaborative project Two-Step, which they formed after noticing they shared both an aesthetic sense and process. Two-Step / Big 4 was produced during a five-day residency at Scottish Opera, making use of the Opera’s production workshop during lockdown, resulting in the largest works yet produced by the duo.
