Edinburgh’s Torrance Gallery is showing Rona Kant & Gwen Adair – a joint exhibition featuring two glowing talents in outdoor representation.
Inspired by the majesty of the Cairngorms National Park where she lives, Rona Kant paints in acrylics to capture the light and convey the intense colours of her surroundings. A first-class Honours graduate in Interior Design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, Rona also has a Master of Arts Degree in Furniture Design and Technology from Brunel University.
Gwen Adair’s recent work encompasses landscapes, birds, portraiture and some figurative work. She is particularly drawn to performers and their enigmatic lifestyles. Landscape painting, a fairly new venture for her, gives scope for exploring colour and mark-making. She works quickly in an alla prima fashion (Italian: first attempt), creating a certain spontaneity to the work.
The Gallery supports the Own Art finance scheme, which makes purchasing artworks more affordable through payment by instalments.
