Resipole Studios at Acharacle, Argyll has two exhibitions running simultaneously. Combining his skills not only as an artist, but also as a mountain guide, crofter and educator, Rob Fairley has his first solo show of new works in ten years. In 2011 the gallery mounted a retrospective of pinhole camera images of land-based art that Fairley made while living a hermetic existence on a tidal island in Loch Moidart. He now lives in a tiny settlement in the West Highlands, where he established Room 13, an artist-in-residence model which is now followed in studios all over the world.
Also showing is IF, a selection of works curated by Fairley by international artists who have had an influence on his own artistic output. Brought in from as far afield as Java, Nepal, South Africa and the United States, the works represent a wide variety of media and subject matter.
