Last year, Scottish wildlife and landscape artist Alan B Hayman made a long and perilous trek on his own by sea from his west of Scotland home to the remote archipelago of St Kilda, forty miles east of the Outer Hebrides. Braving treacherous seas in his wee 17ft boat, he navigated some 180 nautical miles to reach the islands’ imposing stacks and towering cliffs, stopping only to refuel – a truly breathtaking journey and landscape.

The exhibition opens almost 90 years after the last inhabitants of St Kilda left their arduous existence behind and re-settled on the Morvern peninsula, where Alan lives and works.

Resipole Studios is a unique exhibition space and artist-studios in the Highland setting of Argyll on Scotland’s west coast. Works can be purchased in association with the Own Art purchasing scheme.
