A DECLARATION OF BELIEFS, OPINIONS, MOTIVES AND INTENTIONS
In the lead-up to GI, Glasgow’s biennial international art festival, MANIFESTO showcases the emerging talents of 16 Applied Arts students currently studying at the City of Glasgow College. Stitch, weave, embroidery and sculptural textiles are combined with printmaking techniques to create work in response to each artist’s personal artistic manifesto. Working at the exciting and increasingly fluid boundary between craft and contemporary art, these artists use and subvert traditional techniques to create a diverse range of work in their first public exhibition. Subjects are deeply personal and political, ranging from autism to dance, body image to anarchy; from video games, to mindfulness and plastic pollution.
