In an Edinburgh Art Festival 2021 partner exhibition, Turner Prize nominee Christine Borland’s In Relation to Linum at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is a multi-disciplinary project featuring watercolours, prints and sculptural pieces exploring the life cycle of flax (Linum usitatissimum) in a further development of the Gardens’ 350-year relationship with the plant. From flax sown at the Garden, to motion-captured planting processes, the exhibition is described as ‘an intimate reconnection with the heritage and future of growing and making practices, and their associations with care’.
