Recovering from their 50th year celebrations, 2017 sees The Lyceum continue their commitment to excellence with a creepy and bold adaption of Picnic at Hanging Rock performed by renowned Australian companies Malthouse Theatre and Black Swan Theatre. Creating a genuinely scary experience, director Matthew Lutton and playwright Tom Wright amp up the chills in their retelling of the story of three schoolgirls who go missing in the Australian outback, never to be seen again.

The cult novel by Joan Lindsay holds a special dark place in the Australian psyche and explores the country’s anxieties with its colonial past. In this unsettling and highly physical rendition, a group of performers set out to solve the mystery of the missing girls only to unleash hostile forces that induce terror and fear as history begins to repeat itself.

The play received rapturous receptions in Melbourne and Perth in 2016 and this production starring the original cast is the only performance run in the UK. A thrilling and thoroughly spooky way to kick off the New Year. Get your tickets now.
