Wilhelmina Barns-Graham CBE: Lines and Rhythms – Late Drawings and Prints at the Watermill Gallery in Aberfeldy features work by the St Andrews–born artist who divided her time between Scotland and St Ives, where she contributed greatly to the development of Modernist British art. Barns-Graham (1912–2004) returned to St Andrews for her latter, most fruitful years and, with a brio which defied her age, produced works of stunning colour and depth. In these drawings, all made ‘in the field’, she makes bold use of powerful rhythmical lines which pulse with energy.
