The Foodies festival

Park life

Need a break from the cultural excesses of the Festival and Fringe? The Foodies festival is back in Edinburgh’s Inverleith Park from 9 to 11 August.

It’s a great excuse to check out some of Scotland’s best produce and artisan producers and in the process unearth some of the up-and-coming brands. Last year, the foodie team at Artmag found Ria Sambal a delicious Indonesian-inspired chilli sauce created by Ria Bromley from Aberdeenshire. Meanwhile Cochrane Cottage wowed with its award-winning hand-made flavoured balsamics from Ayrshire. This year the exhibitors look just as tempting – we can’t wait to explore again. It won’t be a completely Festival-free zone as Fringe stars Gyles Brandreth and Stephen K Amos will be donning chef hats. And Edinburgh chef Mark Greenaway will be hosting a ”comedy cook-off” between pairs of Fringe comedians who are asked to re-create a dish he prepares in front of the audience.
