Etching as a printing method is thought to go as far back as the 15th century. Some of the best Scottish printmaking of the last two centuries can be seen in Ages of Wonder – Art of Etching at Paisley Museum & Art Gallery, featuring a selection of Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture prints created by etching and including works by Alexander Runciman, David Wilkie, Dame Elizabeth Blackadder, Kate Downie and Will Maclean.
