Michal Šúr: Trees at the Ottersburn Gallery in Dumfries features a selection of photographs from an ongoing project which began in 2011 on Islay, continued in Dumfries and Galloway and later in the West Highlands. The images show the beauty and importance of trees and highlight the disappearance of native woodlands. Michal is a specialist in infrared, black and white photography. His technique produces images of unusual tonality and high contrast and often creates surreal effects. The photographs are made in daylight using a special filter to eliminate the visible spectrum of light, showing in effect an unseen world.
